Beginning in August and through the fall, weather changes and temperatures fall in the Keshena and Legend Lake areas, so throughout Menominee County, residents often see drastic increases in clusters of beetles, stinging insects, & rodents including wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets. Surges of mosquitoes and ticks also occur into late fall (October/November).
Stinging Insects
The populations of Hornets, Wasps, & Yellow jackets peak in late summer (August). As food sources diminish, these stinging insects become extremely aggressive surrounding decks, patios, roof lines, and sofets
If you have had issues with stinging insects in the past, be sure to order services to get rid of those when you order your fall treatment.
Mosquitoes & Ticks
Mosquitoes and ticks love wooded areas, especially those with standing water. One of the primary reasons to contract a seasonal program for mosquito and tick control is to do all you can to prevent disease-carrying mosquitoes and ticks and the potential contracting of diseases like West Nile virus and Lyme disease.
If you are on the seasonal mosquito & tick program, you will not notice the drastic increase of mosquitoes and ticks in the late summer months.

Spiders
Spiders which commonly hide in the outdoor siding, soffits, roof lines, basements, and garages out of sight and hoping to be out of mind become much more prevalent in the early fall and going into late fall.
Wintering Bugs
During the months of September and October, when temperatures often drop to 50 degrees and lower, rodents and other wintering bugs seek warmth in siding, between cracks, and other protected south-facing and west-facing exterior walls from which they squeeze indoors.
Beetles
Asian Beetles, Japanese Beetles, and Lady Bug Beetles swarm the sides of home and even the interior walls of home during the late fall when they are exceptionally prevalent throughout northern Wisconsin particularly in the Legend Lake and Keshena areas.
Boxelder Bugs, Stink Bugs, and Cluster Flies
Boxelder Bugs are often found on sunny exterior surfaces. Stink Bugs, on the other hand, crawl through small cracks of homes and other structures; they emit a strong odor when disturbed. Cluster Flies often hide in attics and similar areas where they seek to hibernate.
Rodents: Mice, Rats
When vegetation dies off and the land cools, field mice move indoors into homes and businesses or wherever they may find warmth or shelter. Bugs Beware Pest Control sets live traps and collects them, so you need not worry about handling rodents. It is best to begin your rodent war earlier in the year, such as in September or October to get ahead of their migration inside.

Menominee County is home to thirty plus lakes and several major rivers. The largest and well-known is Legend Lake, a body of water that is spring-fed encompassing over 1,300 acres with nearly fifty miles of shoreline. Menominee County is also home to Menominee Forest which is famous for its massive 220,000-acre forest that is visible from space. Bugs and rodents love to take shelter in the homes throughout the Keshena, Neopit, and Legend Lake areas, as well as in nearby cabins rentals in Menominee County along the Menominee River and near the city of Menomonie in Dunn County.
